Margarita Karamihova is historian and ethnologist, full professor in Veliko Tarnovo University "St Cyril and St Methodius", Doctor Habill. (http://www.uni-vt.bg/1/?zid=67&c=staff).

After an initial specialization in historical demography of Ottoman Balkans, she has worked on kinship and marriage patterns among Bulgarian Muslims, as well as on religion and Muslim culture. Her most recent works include a book on a Heterodox Muslim shrine, Bulgarian emigration in the USA, holly places and pilgrimages in post-socialist Bulgaria and three edited volumes on post-socialist religiosity and trans-border migration.
