John Eade is Professor of Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Roehampton and Visiting Professor at University College London. His main research interests are religion and identity politics, global migration, pilgrimage and tourism. He has published two monographs - The Politics of Community (1989) and Placing London (2000) and edited and co-edited eight volumes including Contesting the Sacred: The
Anthropology of Christian Pilgrimage (1991), Living the Global City (1997), Reframing Pilgrimage (2004), Transnational Ties (2008), Accession and Migration (2010) and Pilgrimage, Politics and Place-Making in Eastern Europe (1914).
