Irina Chongarova-Aron is an intercultural consultant and trainer specializing in development of intercultural sensitivity for groups and individuals in educational and corporate environments. She has over 20-year experience of work in academia internationally. She is an Associate Professor in Intercultural Communication (University of Plovdiv, Bulgaria) and she is currently facilitating global leadership programmes at the Kingston Business Scholl, London and the London Business School.
Irina has been involved in management, consultancy and training for EU project teams in Tempus, Lingua, Leonardo and Erasmus programmes since 1998. Irina's academic publications focus on the linguistic and cultural aspects of intercultural learning. In her recent research is looking at the construction of social identities through languages and narratives in the context of international migration
Irina was born in St.Petersburg, Russia. She gained her BA and MA degrees from the University of Sofia, Bulgaria and completed her PhD at the Russian Academy of Science in Moscow. She recently pursued her interest in psychoanalytic thinking and completed a MA at the Centre for Psychoanalytic Studies of the University of Essex. She is fluent in Bulgarian, Russian and English.
